Shimono-bō Temple
下之坊 (富士宮市)
Shimonobo is a historic Nichiren Shoshu temple with a significant founder's grave.
What it is
- A Nichiren Shoshu temple.
- Established in 1289 by Nikko.
- Founding patron was Nanjo Tokimitsu.
- Known as Shimonobo because of Oishiji.
What to see
- Grave of the 3rd Chief Priest Nichimoku.
- Current main hall completed in 1973.
When to go
- Oeshiki ceremony is held on December 15th.
