Shinmei Shrine, also known as Oshinmesan, has a history stretching back to its founding in 924. This shrine is dedicated to Amaterasu Omikami.
While the shrine was established in the 10th century, it was later moved to its present site in Fukui City. Over the centuries, it received support from prominent figures; Minamoto no Yoritomo provided the shrine's ryoke-shiki in 1192, and the Edo shogunate donated 100 koku of shuinryo. In 1871, it was recognized as a prefectural shrine.
Visitors can see a historic shrine with a long connection to Japanese history and significant figures. It offers a glimpse into traditional Japanese religious practices and architecture.
