- Established in 1870 as Higashi Hongan-ji Kansatsu.
- Renamed Sapporo Betsu-in in 1876.

- Current main hall completed in 1892.
- Current main gate completed in 1914.
- Bell tower completed in July 1925.
- Study and ossuary completed in 2003.
