A historic Tendai temple, first stop on a pilgrimage, with a rare Kannon statue.
What it is
- A Tendai sect temple, formally Daihisan Enkyoji.
- Founded by ascetics of Hakusan worship.
- First stop of the old Mino 33 Kannon Pilgrimage.
- Currently uninhabited, managed by Jonenji temple.
What to see
- The main hall, rebuilt in 1828.
- Juodo building on the temple grounds.
- Wooden Eleven-faced Kannon Bodhisattva standing statue.
- Heian period Kannon statue is the main image.
When to go
- Main image displayed once every seven years.
