What it is

  • A Tendai sect temple, formally Daihisan Enkyoji.
  • Founded by ascetics of Hakusan worship.
  • First stop of the old Mino 33 Kannon Pilgrimage.
  • Currently uninhabited, managed by Jonenji temple.

What to see

  • The main hall, rebuilt in 1828.
  • Juodo building on the temple grounds.
  • Wooden Eleven-faced Kannon Bodhisattva standing statue.
  • Heian period Kannon statue is the main image.

When to go

  • Main image displayed once every seven years.
