Shōgaku-ji Temple
正覚寺
Shōgaku-ji Temple, also known as Juodo, is a historic temple with a connection to Tokugawa Ieyasu.
What it is
- A temple of the Jodo Shinshu Yengoin school.
- Commonly known as Juodo, named after the surrounding area.
- Received a red seal letter from Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1602.
- Originally housed Kannon Bosatsu as its principal image.
What to see
- The main hall's plaque reads "Daishido."
- Main hall enshrines a standing Amida Nyorai statue.
- Main hall contains two of the Ten Kings and Enma-o statues.
