Shōgen-ji Temple is a historic Rinzai Zen temple with unique monkey statues.
What it is
- A Rinzai sect Myoshin-ji school temple.
- Founded between 1573 and 1593.
- Founded by Chokushi Reikan Fushō Zenji.
- Also known as Saru-dera, or Monkey Temple.
