Shōjōshin-in Temple
清浄心院
Shōjōshin-in is a historic Buddhist temple and shukubo on Koyasan, founded by Kūkai.
What it is
- A Buddhist temple and shukubo (temple lodging).
- Established by Kūkai between 824 and 834.
- A Betsukaku Honzan of Koyasan Shingon Buddhism.
- Rebuilt by Taira no Munemori after its founding.
What to see
- The main image is Hatsuka Daishi, a wooden statue.
- Hatsuka Daishi statue has 'Biunkon' carved on its back.
- Two letters from Tokugawa Ieyasu are cultural properties.
