Shōjōshin-in is a historic Buddhist temple and shukubo on Koyasan, founded by Kūkai.

What it is

  • A Buddhist temple and shukubo (temple lodging).
  • Established by Kūkai between 824 and 834.
  • A Betsukaku Honzan of Koyasan Shingon Buddhism.
  • Rebuilt by Taira no Munemori after its founding.
