Shōren-ji Temple
照蓮寺
Shōren-ji Temple is a historic Buddhist temple with important cultural properties.
What it is
- A Shinshu Buddhist temple of the Otani-ha sect.
- Commonly known as Nakano Shōren-ji.
- Founded in 1253 by Kanenbō Zenshun.
- Relocated to Takayama City in 1961.
What to see
- The main hall, built around 1504, is a National Important Cultural Property.
- The middle gate was built in 1574.
- The temple bell has an inscription from 1334.
- The temple bell is a Gifu Prefecture Important Cultural Property.
