What it is

  • A Sōtō Zen Buddhist temple.
  • Founded by Wakasa-no-Tsubone, a consort of Minamoto no Yoriie.
  • Renamed Sōgo-ji and moved in 1592 by Morikawa Ujitoshi.
  • Became the family temple of the Morikawa clan.
