What it is

  • A Rinzai sect Myōshin-ji school temple.
  • Associated with the warlord Oda Nobunaga.
  • Originally a kōji temple named Saimyō-ji.
  • Became a government temple by imperial order in 1332.

  • A seated statue of Yakushi Nyorai, the principal image.
  • Oda Nobunaga's mausoleum.
