Sonshō-in Temple
尊勝院 (古河市)
This historic Shingon temple, once in Kamakura, offers a glimpse into Koga's past.
What it is
- A Shingon-shu Buzan-ha Buddhist temple.
- Its mountain name is Myoosan, institutional name Anrakuji.
- Associated with the Koga Kubo.
- Moved to Koga during the Kyotoku era.
What to see
- The main hall, Amabiki Kannon-do, and Fudo-do.
- A stone statue of Dainichi Nyorai from 1672.
- A preserved document from Ashikaga Yoshiuji.
