Sōsen-ji Temple: a historic Buddhist temple founded by a samurai lord, rebuilt after a fire.
What it is
- A Buddhist temple in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
- Founded in 1579 by Yasutaka Ōsuga, lord of Yokosuka Castle.
- Named after Yasutaka Ōsuga's deceased wife.
- Founding priest Oshō Mogaku was Yasutaka's uncle.
What to see
- Nine red seals from successive Tokugawa shoguns.
- Main hall and other buildings rebuilt in 1833.
