Suimu Shrine (Seki)

What it is

• A historic shrine dedicated to the deities Takateruhime-no-kami and Otoshi-no-kami.
• Established in 775 using a spirit brought from the Hida region.
• Relocated to its current site in January 1678 and designated a village shrine in 1873.
• Recognized as a Kinpeisha by the Gifu Prefecture Jinja-cho in 1957.

What to see

• A sword signed by Sukesada, designated as a city cultural property.
• Two portable shrines used during the annual festival procession.

When to go

• The annual festival takes place on the Sunday nearest April 15.

• A one-minute walk from the Mugikuraguchi bus stop.
