Sumiyoshi Otomo Shrine

What it is

• A shrine at the foot of Mount Sumiyoshi.
• It enshrines Amenoshihi-no-mikoto and Michi-no-omi-no-mikoto.
• It also enshrines the Sumiyoshi Sanjin deities.
• Originally named Ban-shi Jinja.

What to see

• The main hall, built in the early Showa period.
• The main hall has unique Sumiyoshi-zukuri architecture.
• The main hall's roof was changed to copper in 1978.
• A monument with a poem by Otomo Yakamochi is on the grounds.

• 400m north of Myoshinji or Ryoanji stations.
