Taisei-ji Temple: a historic Rinzai Zen temple with ties to Tokugawa Ieyasu.
What it is
- A temple of the Rinzai sect Myoshin-ji school.
- Founded by Soetsu in 1651.
- Formerly known as Daigo-zan Ryugen-ji.
- Renamed Ryugen-zan Taisei-ji in 1663.
What to see
- The main hall, rebuilt in 1850.
- Amidado, rebuilt in 1872.
- Jūōdō and Yakushidō buildings.
- Temple treasures include 600 volumes of Daihannya Sutra.
