A small, historic shrine in Nara City, dedicated to a powerful deity, easily visited.

What it is

  • A subsidiary shrine of Kasuga Grand Shrine.
  • Dedicated to the deity Ame-no-Tajikarao-no-Mikoto.
  • Its grounds were reduced in 1895 for road widening.

What to see

  • The shrine building, slightly relocated in 1895.
  • A wall behind the shrine, bordering Kofukuji Kaikan.
  • A large willow tree, named Tajikarao Yanagi, once stood here.
