Tajikarao Shrine
手力雄神社
A small, historic shrine in Nara City, dedicated to a powerful deity, easily visited.
What it is
- A subsidiary shrine of Kasuga Grand Shrine.
- Dedicated to the deity Ame-no-Tajikarao-no-Mikoto.
- Its grounds were reduced in 1895 for road widening.
What to see
- The shrine building, slightly relocated in 1895.
- A wall behind the shrine, bordering Kofukuji Kaikan.
- A large willow tree, named Tajikarao Yanagi, once stood here.
Getting there
- Located on the east end of Sanjo-dori's north side.
