Tenpōrin-ji Temple

• Jōdo-shū Buddhist temple, also known as Kantō-san.
• Founded in 1758 by Kantō Shōnin.
• Featured in the Edo period 'Miyako Meisho Zue' publication.
• Relocated to its current site in 1929.

What to see

• Bell tower gate in the Ryūgū-zukuri style.
• Main hall houses a large seated Amitābha Buddha statue.
• Statue is approximately 7.5 meters tall.
• Statue is also called Omuro Daibutsu.

• Special viewings during the Jōdo-shū Kyoto Diocese's October event.
