Tomari Shrine

A historic shrine in Kakogawa featuring eight National Tangible Cultural Properties rebuilt by the adopted son of Miyamoto Musashi.
What it is
- A Shinto shrine in Kakogawa City dedicated to Amaterasu Omikami and other deities.
- Founded by Hata no Kawakatsu during the Asuka period as a family tutelary shrine.
- The entire complex was rebuilt in 1653 by Miyamoto Iori.
- The site once served as the location for Ishidan Castle during the Nanboku-cho period.
