A mountain shrine dedicated to ancient deities, offering unique natural and historical sights.
What it is
- A shrine on Mt. Tsurugi, at 1420m altitude.
- Dedicated to Oyamatsumi-no-mikoto, Emperor Antoku, Susanoo-no-mikoto.
- Renamed Tsurugi Shrine in the early Meiji era.
- Became a prefectural shrine in 1873.
What to see
- The main shrine, Okutsurugi Shrine, at 1810m.
- Otoseki, a large sacred rock at Okutsurugi Shrine.
- Tsurugisan Oshikimizu, a source of the Iya River.
When to go
- Annual mountain opening ceremony on April 29th.

- Minokoshi is a 90-minute drive from Mima Interchange.
