Unryū-ji Temple

Unryū-ji Temple is a historic Sōtō Zen temple with a unique head mound.
What it is
- A Sōtō Zen temple.
- Founded in 957 by Ryōgen.
- Principal image is Shaka Nyorai.
- Restored by the Akamatsu clan.
What to see
- Temple grounds contain a kubizuka (head mound).
- The kubizuka is for Bessho Nagaharu and his wife.

- Annual memorial service on January 17.
