Yaeda Shrine

What it is

• Shrine dedicated to Susanoo-no-Mikoto and Hakkudaijin.
• Hakkudaijin is known as Hirakata no Onshishisama, a large lion's head.
• Associated with the Minamoto clan, with a Hidari Mitsudomoe crest.
• Existed between 1688-1704, current name adopted after Meiji Restoration.

What to see

• Adjacent Tachibana Shrine, also managed by Yaeda Shrine.
• Keyaki and Enoki trees, designated natural monuments.

When to go

• Mid-July for the rare Doroinkyo festival.
