Yasaka Shrine is a historic shrine in Kitakyushu, home to a lively summer festival.
What it is
- Originally called Gion-sha, renamed Yasaka Shrine in 1871.
- Relocated to Kokura Castle grounds in 1934.
- Designated a prefectural shrine in 1873.

- Kokura Gion Daiko festival: third Saturday and Sunday of July.
- Festival started in 1618, has 390-year history.
