What it is

  • A Tendai sect temple in Shinagawa, Tokyo.
  • Formed in 1926 by merging two temples.
  • Also called Yogyokuin Nyoraiji or Nyoraiji.
  • The principal image is Shaka Nyorai.

What to see

  • Zuio-den hall enshrines five Gochi Nyorai statues.
  • Gochi Nyorai statues are about 3 meters tall.
  • Graves of the So clan and Uemura clan.
  • Tokyo and Shinagawa designated cultural properties.

When to go

  • August 13 for a memorial service with 1000 lanterns.
