Zenpukuji is an ancient Buddhist temple with historical ties to Mirokuji, easily accessible by bus.

What it is

  • A Buddhist temple of the Koyasan Shingon-shu sect.
  • Founded by Zenchu during the Tenpyo era (729-749).
  • One of six outer temples of Mirokuji (Katsuo-ji).
  • Restored by Shunzen during the Horeki era (1751-1763).

  • The temple grounds include Konpira-gu.
