Zen'anji is a historic Jodo-shu temple in Gifu Prefecture, rebuilt multiple times over centuries.
What it is
- Jodo-shu temple in Ikeda Town, Gifu Prefecture.
- Believed to be founded by Saicho in 811.
- 8th temple of the Nishi Mino Thirty-three Kannon Pilgrimage.
- Converted to Jodo-shu in 1699 with Genyo Shonin.
What to see
- Site rebuilt in 1943 after 1919 fire.
- Current location is the latest of several rebuilds.
