Zenkō-ji Temple

Zenko-ji is a historic Jodo-shu Seizan Zenrin-ji temple, rebuilt after an earthquake.
What it is
- A Jodo-shu Seizan Zenrin-ji temple.
- Founded in 1736 by Esumi Koji and Ekyo Ni.
- Named Chigyo-an after their child Chigyo Doshi.
- Temple name changed to Zenko-ji in 1939.
What to see
- The principal image is Amitabha Tathagata.
- Ousuzuka was moved to the temple grounds in 1870.
- Zenko-ji Nyorai became the principal image in 1884.
- A new main hall was built in 1939.
