Zenshō-ji Temple

Zenshō-ji Temple is a historic Tendai temple with an important iron Buddha statue.
What it is
- A Tendai sect Buddhist temple.
- Founded by Shodo between 790 and 810.
- Renamed Zenshō-ji during the Tenmon era (1532-1555).
What to see
- Iron seated Amitabha Nyorai statue is the main image.
- Statue dates from 1243, discovered in 1615.
- Statue is a National Important Cultural Property.
- Main hall was rebuilt in 1981.
