What it is

  • A Nichiren sect temple in Kyoto.
  • Founded by Hideyoshi's sister Nichishū (Tomo).
  • Established to mourn Toyotomi Hidetsugu and his family.
  • Named after Hidetsugu's posthumous Buddhist name.

What to see

  • Main hall's rear contains the 'Zenshō-den'.
  • Zenshō-den houses Hidetsugu's kubizuka and gorintō.
  • Graves of Hidekatsu and Hideyasu are also here.
  • Nichishū-ni's grave and memorial towers are next to Zenshō-den.
  • Bronze statue of Shaka Nyorai enshrined in the Honshido.
  • Temple is burial place for successive abbesses of Zuiryū-ji.
