Afuchi Shrine
安布知神社
Afuchi Shrine is an ancient shrine with significant historical buildings and a sacred tree.
What it is
- Founded in 368 as Agomichi Daishingu.
- Dedicated to Yagokoro Omoikane no Mikoto and other deities.
- Hachiman-shin was enshrined here in 706.
- Renamed Afuchi Shrine in 1872.
What to see
- The current main hall, rebuilt in 1671.
- The worship hall, built in 1675.
- A large stone torii, built in 1690.
- Main hall and worship hall are prefectural treasures.
- An ancient holly tree is a natural monument.
