What it is
- Dedicated to Akaruhimenomikoto, the main deity.
- Existed by the mid-Heian period.
- Formerly a subsidiary shrine of Sumiyoshi Taisha.
- Listed in the Engishiki Jinmyocho.
What to see
- Main hall is vermilion-lacquered nagare-zukuri style.
- A 1698 chozubachi is at the entrance.
- Chozubachi inscribed with "Sanjubu Daimyojin."
- Kotohira Shrine was relocated here in 1897.
