Baishō-in Temple
梅照院
Largest temple in Nakano, known for healing eye diseases and its unique hidden Buddha.
What it is
- Shingon-shu Buzan-ha temple, also called Arai Yakushi.
- Founded in 1586 by the monk Gyoshun.
- Largest temple in Nakano Ward.
- Main deity is a two-in-one Yakushi Nyorai and Nyoirin Kannon.
What to see
- Main hall and Fudo-do hall.
- Well water (Hakuryu Gongen-sui) is open to the public.
- Hidden Buddha statue shown once every 12 years (year of the tiger).
When to go
- Ennichi fairs held on the 8th, 18th, and 28th of each month.
