What it is

  • Shingon-shu Buzan-ha temple, also called Arai Yakushi.
  • Founded in 1586 by the monk Gyoshun.
  • Largest temple in Nakano Ward.
  • Main deity is a two-in-one Yakushi Nyorai and Nyoirin Kannon.

What to see

  • Main hall and Fudo-do hall.
  • Well water (Hakuryu Gongen-sui) is open to the public.
  • Hidden Buddha statue shown once every 12 years (year of the tiger).

When to go

  • Ennichi fairs held on the 8th, 18th, and 28th of each month.
