Chōkoku-ji Temple
長谷寺
Ancient mountain temple with unique history, scenic views, and many historic stone monuments.
What it is
- Founded in 722 by Gyoki.
- Belongs to the Shingon-shu Chizan-ha sect.
- Principal image is the Eleven-faced Kannon.
- Known as 'Women's Kōya' and a burial site.

- Main hall is part of the temple's garan.
- Numerous gorintō, hōkyōintō, and kuyo-tō are scattered.
- Located on the side of Mt. Nakao at 500m altitude.
