Enkō-ji Temple

Enkō-ji Temple is a historic Jōdo Shinshū temple with a castle gate and annual festival.
What it is
- Jōdo Shinshū Honganji-ha temple.
- Founded in 1514 by Masasuke of the Iwasa clan.
- Moved to current location in 1621.
- Temple name changed to Enkō-ji in 1712.

- Main gate moved from Masujima Castle.
- Main gate is a Hida City cultural property.
- Located along the Setogawa River.
When to go
- Hōonkō festival from January 9 to 16.
- Hōonkō is known as Santera Mairi.
