Hikawa Shrine
氷川神社
A historic guardian shrine of Itabashi-shuku featuring a cultural property Fujizuka mound and a reinforced concrete main building.
What it is
- Founded around 1206 by Toyoshima Tsune-yasu to serve as a local guardian.
- Dedicated to the deities Susanoo-no-Mikoto and Inadahime-no-Mikoto.
- The current main building was reconstructed in 1958 using reinforced concrete.
- Serves as a spiritual center for nineteen local neighborhoods in Itabashi.
