Hongan-ji Temple (Kyotango)

Hongan-ji Temple is a historic Jodo-shu Buddhist temple with the oldest building in the Tango region.
What it is
- Founded in 730 by Gyoki.
- Converted to Jodo-shu Buddhism in 1192 by Honen.
- The 20th sacred site of Honen Shonin's residence.
