This historic shrine, rebuilt after destruction, offers a glimpse into Japan's past.
What it is
- A former village shrine, also called Kokuga Hachimangu.
- Dedicated to Amatarashihikokunioshihito no Mikoto and other deities.
- Became a Hachiman faith shrine, tutelary deity of the Minamoto clan.
- Destroyed by Oda Nobunaga in 1582, later restored by Tokugawa Ieyasu.
When to go
- April 3rd for the annual water disaster prevention ritual.
