What it is

  • A Shinto shrine founded by local clans during the Eitoku era
  • Dedicated to the primary deity Ichikishimahime-no-mikoto
  • Situated on Mount Iimori in Aizuwakamatsu City
  • Renamed from Munakata Shrine to Itsukushima Shrine in 1868
