Jigen-ji Temple
慈眼寺
Jigen-ji is a historic Rinzai Zen temple with a long history of rebuilding and a notable temple bell.
What it is
- A Rinzai sect Myoshin-ji school temple.
- Also known as Jigen Zen-ji.
- Founded by Kosho Shogetsu Oshō.
- Became a direct branch temple of Myoshin-ji in 1689.
What to see
- A temple bell cast in 1796.
- The main hall, newly built in 1882.
- Koyasu Jizo-do, newly built in 1882.
