Jion-ji Temple

What it is

• A Koyasan Shingon sect Buddhist temple founded between 729 and 749.
• The temple is dedicated to the Thousand-Armed Kannon Bodhisattva.
• It serves as the 19th stop on the Mie Shikoku 88 Pilgrimage.
• The institution is also known by the names Unrinzan and Fumonin.

• A Tenjin shrine built on the temple grounds in 1985.
