Jōshō-ji Temple
定勝寺
Jōshō-ji Temple is a historic Rinzai Zen temple with important cultural properties.
What it is
- A Rinzai sect Myōshin-ji school temple.
- One of the three great temples of Kiso.
- Founded in 1387-1388 by Kiso Chikayutaka.
- Current buildings constructed in 1598.

- Main gate built in 1661.
- Main hall from the early Edo period.
- Kuri (monastery kitchen/administration building).
- Nirvana statue brought in 1582.
