Kashima Shrine is a historic site in Ito City, known for its autumn festival and traditional dance.
What it is
- A shrine dedicated to Takemikazuchi no Mikoto and Sugawara no Michizane.
- Original shrine buildings burned down in 1871.
- Merged with Tenjinsha at its current location.
When to go
- Annual festival is held in mid-October.
- Kashima Dance is performed at the festival.
