Kōfuku-ji Temple
光福寺
Kofukuji, or 'Ginkgo Temple,' is a historic Shingon temple worth visiting for its unique art and statues.
What it is
- A Shingon sect temple.
- Founded in 1532 by Eigen.
- Revived by Yuchu in the early Edo period.
- Known as 'Ginkgo Temple' for its large tree.

- A large ginkgo tree.
- Fudo-do hall enshrines a Fudo Myoo statue.
- Fudo-do hall enshrines a Kannon Bosatsu statue.
- Kannon statue is a hidden Buddha, unveiled once per head priest.
