- Founded in 1687 by Ajioka Jirokuro.
- Originally named Tamon-ji, renamed Kōjaku-in in 1689.

- Main gate and mountain gate were relocated at founding.
- A handwritten image by Dōgen is transmitted.
- Kannon statue by Nishimura Kōchō is enshrined.
- Ceiling paintings were supervised by Nishimura Kōchō.
- Temple grounds have a large weeping cherry tree.
