Konjō-in Temple
金乗院
Konjoin is a historic Tokyo temple, rebuilt after fire, with ties to the Tokugawa shogunate.
What it is
- A Shingon-shu Buzan-ha Buddhist temple.
- Founded by Gyoei between 1593 and 1596.
- Received official shuin from Tokugawa Iemitsu in 1649.
- Successive shoguns' shuinjo documents still exist.
What to see
- The Amida-do, a hall dedicated to Amida Buddha.
- Temple rebuilt in 1957 to its original scale.
