Kumano Shrine

What it is

• Shrine founded in 1394 by the Shimanami clan.
• Dedicated to Izanagi-no-mikoto, Izanami-no-mikoto, and Susanoo-no-mikoto.
• Rebuilt in 1659 with support from Shinjo Naoyoshi.
• Renamed Kumano Shrine in 1870.
