Manpuku-ji Temple
満福寺
Manpuku-ji Temple is a historic Shingon Buddhist temple with important cultural properties.
What it is
- A Shingon-shu Chizan-ha Buddhist temple.
- Founded in 1262 by the monk Chokai Hoin.
- The 18th sacred site of Oku no Hosomichi.
- Principal image is Dainichi Nyorai (Kongokai).
What to see
- The main hall, rebuilt in 1972.
- The new main hall, Daibirushanaden, built in 2011.
- Statues of San Kison, a Tochigi City cultural property.
- Images of Kannon, Kangiten, and Jizo-son.
