Mifune Shrine
御船神社
Mifune Shrine is a historic river god shrine, a small but significant part of Ise Grand Shrine.
What it is
- A sessha (auxiliary shrine) of Ise Grand Shrine's Inner Shrine.
- Dedicated to Okami-no-mikagekawa-no-kami, a river god.
- Re-established in its current location on September 30, 1663.
- Co-located with Mumino Shrine, which also enshrines river gods.
What to see
- Shrine buildings in the Shinmei-zukuri architectural style.
- A stone lantern installed at the entrance in 1843.
- Grounds covering 3,223 square meters.
