A 3,084-meter peak in the Hida Mountains offering glacial landforms and a famous seasonal snow pattern on its slopes.
What it is
- A high peak standing 3,084 meters above sea level in the Hida Mountains.
- The twelfth highest mountain in Japan, located on the Nagano and Gifu border.
- Part of the Chubu Sangaku National Park between Mount Obami and Mount Minami.
- Named in 1909 by Masao Udono and his climbing party.
What to see
- Glacial landforms including moraines and cirques visible on the mountain slopes.
- A natural water source located at the southeastern snow valley.
- The summit area which underwent changes during a series of earthquakes in 1998.
