Mount Neko

What it is

• A 2,207-meter mountain located on the border of Ueda and Suzaka in Nagano Prefecture
• Part of the Joshin'etsu-kogen National Park on the Azuma caldera rim
• Designated as one of the 100 Famous Flower Mountains
• Western slopes are utilized for local ski resorts and ranches

What to see

• Alpine displays of the Parnassia palustris flower across the slopes
• Panoramic views from the summit located northwest of Mount Azuma
• Open landscapes of the Sugadaira Highlands at the base of the mountain

Getting there

• The summit is accessible via a two-hour hike from the trailhead
• Access to the area is available via National Route 406
