Myōdō-ji Temple
妙道寺
Myōdō-ji Temple is a historic Jōdo Shinshū temple with a unique Amitābha Nyorai statue.
What it is
- A Jōdo Shinshū Honganji-ha Buddhist temple.
- Founded in 1532 by Gakusai.
- The first terakoya in Sakakoshi was opened here.
What to see
- Main image: a wooden Amitābha Nyorai statue.
- Statue was salvaged from a fishing net in 1632.
- Main hall rebuilt in 1734.
- Temple gate rebuilt in 1753.

- Annually, Earth Chemical performs an insect memorial service.
